Party Invitations

Kate the Peon asks:

How early is too early to send out an evite? I am having a St. Patrick's Day party and want to send the invite, like, NOW. I am worried that no one will show up and I want to make sure I give people enough time to cancel their lame plans and agree to my cool ones, but I also don't want to be the dork who gives people, like, a billion days notice for something that may not be that fun when it all comes down to it.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but it is too early. If you send out invitations too far in advance, people forget to RSVP and forget about the party altogether. I'd send out the evite on March 1st (or February 29th, which is a Friday, since a lot of people don't check their email much on the weekends).

I knew I wouldn't like your opinion. :)

As an early planner (esp. for major holidays like St. Patrick's Day!), I think you should send the evite now. When I get invitations that are only a few weeks before the event, I've typically already made other plans.

Just set the evite up to send a couple of reminders. That helps to take care of those who forget to RSVP or forget to attend once they've RSVP-ed.
